We’ve literally lost count of how many HITC stories have been mistranslated by the Portuguese media in the past few years.
We have another one today, this time coming from Record, claiming that according to the English website, Marco Silva would be interested in taking Andre Carrillo to Everton.
Knowing the history they have, we went after the story, and unsurprinsgly, HITC never claimed that Silva is after the Benfica winger.
All they did was suggest the transfer, with their headline making it pretty clear, as it asks: ‘After allegedly discussing Everton move together, will Silva again target Carrillo?’
HITC’s story was recalling a report from January, written by The Times, which claimed that Silva could be taking Carrillo with him. Now as the manager was close to being appointed, the website wondered if the plans stand.
But Record got quite excited with that, and even revealed some numbers, saying Benfica will be demanding €15m in case Everton go for the Peruvian international in the summer.
After an unsuccessfull loan spell at Watford, Carrillo is unlikely to stay in Lisbon. Benfica actually hope he has a great World Cup so they can sell him for a good fee in the summer. And Marco Silva at Everton could help them with that.
