Why must everything be so difficult during the transfer window?
We say this because it appears that Maurizio Sarri’s contractual situation could still be an issue for Chelsea despite the Italian manager being sacked by Napoli and replaced by Carlo Ancelotti.
The contract remains valid, and in order to be able to sign for a new team, like the Blues, the release clause still needs to be paid for him to be free to negotiate.
However, according to CalcioNapoli24, Chelsea are yet to come forward with the required €8m; an amount that will not be valid after May 31st, making it then even more difficult to acquire his services.
That means Aurelio de Laurentiis would continue to pay Sarri the wages he is owed during that period, but the manager would not be able to seek new employment.
It’s a bit of a weird one, as Chelsea wouldn’t normally have an issue coughing up €8m for a new manager, but the fact they’d also have to pay Antonio Conte a large severance package makes this situation a tad trickier.
