Gazzetta dello Sport have a big feature in their Saturday edition on potential business between Manchester United and Juventus, and when that comes to Anthony Martial… Tottenham play a part.
Spurs have been repeatedly, and strongly, linked with the Frenchman since before he moved to Old Trafford from AS Monaco, and it seems there’s genuine interest coming from Tottenham.
Gazzetta are aware of this on Juve’s behalf and say the player is ‘the preference of Mauricio Pochettino’ who they believe now has big money to spend following his renewal with Spurs.
This is an assumption growing across the European media, it’s thought that Pochettino wouldn’t have signed a new contract without some sort of assurances over a big budget for transfers. Whilst that’s speculation based on educated guesswork, the Martial story has been going on for so long that it’s different.
Pochettino has ‘many millions’ to spend, believe the Italian newspaper, and they say Spurs are aware Juve will be a ‘serious rival’ for the player.
If the Turin club do go for Martial it probably isn’t a move they’ll make at the beginning of the window, so if Tottenham hurry they’d likely find a less crowded path.
