Juventus signed Stefano Sturaro from Genoa in 2014 and immediately loaned him back to his former club for one season. Since 2015, he is with the Old Lady and has started in only seven league games for the Turin club this season.
Sturaro has not been used regularly by Massimiliano Allegri in the recently concluded season. Despite the lack of playing time at the Allianz Stadium, the 25-year-old is not short of suitors from abroad.
Calciomercato.it claims Valencia manager Marcelino wanted to sign the midfielder in the January transfer window. The La Liga outfit’s interest in Sturaro has not faded and could be one of the clubs interest in signing him this summer.
Sturaro is also a target for Newcastle United as Rafael Benitez has asked for preliminary information regarding the player. However, the 25-year-old’s priority is to remain at Juventus, where he has a contract until 2021.
“As far as Sturaro is concerned, Stefano is linked to Genoa. We had also asked Juventus about him last year. If it depended on us, we would have already signed him, even outside of the Perin affair,” Perinetti told Calciomercato.com.
In the run up to the January window, the player’s agent confirmed interest from Rafael Benitez’s club: It’s pleasing that during each transfer window, Stefano is in demand in Italy and abroad. In the Premier League, for example, the attention tends to come from clubs like Everton and Newcastle.”
Sturaro’s good attitude and versatility is what made Juventus keep him last summer and in the winter, and is also probably what is attracting Newcastle United and others.
