Let us just spit this out: Turin newspaper Tuttosport seem determined to link Premier League clubs to Gianluigi Buffon so appear to have thought about it for a few minutes and come up with Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are up first and the Turin newspaper state Liverpool are ‘hunting’ for a Loris Karius replacement, with Simon Mignolet described as ‘very little appreciated’.
The man they’re mainly hunting is Jan Oblak, Atletico Madrid’s excellent goalkeeper.
He has a buyout clause of €100m and if the Anfield club decide to activate it they’d then have to persuade the player. Klopp is described as being ‘especially intrigued’ by the option.
If that doesn’t work, Tuttosport present Buffon as a fallback option.
The 40 year old announced this week he’d be leaving Juventus, but not retiring from football.
PSG looks the early runner, and Tuttosport say that’s ‘concrete’, but perhaps it’s not quite exciting enough to be left at that.
Liverpool signing Oblak and signing Buffon would be two very different things, one is a huge investment for now and the future, the other is a legendary goalkeeper who many had expected to retire this summer.
