Everton may need to break the Turkish transfer record again to sign Garry Rodrigues following comments made by Galatasaray vice president Mehmet Ozcan.
In January Everton paid £23m (which could raise to €27m with bonuses) for Cenk Tosun, a record for a player being signed from the Turkish Super Lig, but Rodrigues could go for more than this.
Speaking to Ajansspor, Ozcan was asked about the future of the Everton target: “Yes, we are aware that the clubs are looking to sign him. I know that five clubs sent a scout to watch him in action last week. I think after his recent form his price is now €30m.”
Everton have been linked with Rodrigues in recent weeks and it seems they’ve stepped up their pursuit of the player ahead of the summer window.
Last week it was reported in the Turkish press that Everton sent a scout to watch the game between Galatasaray and Yeni Malatyaspor to get a further lowdown on Rodrigues.
The Premier League side are also expected to watch the 27 year old this weekend when the Turkish giants take on Goztepe.
Everton are likely to face competition from Newcastle United and West Ham United, but it seems the three English clubs may have to offer €30m upwards for the Cape Verde international. Or at least do some tough negotiating.
