Sunderland allowed Fabio Borini join AC Milan on loan last summer and as a part of the transfer the Serie A outfit had an obligation to sign the forward on a permanent deal.
The club’s woes have continued as they were relegated from the Championship after finishing at the bottom of the table this season. Although Borini is technically a Sunderland player now, there’s no chance that he would return to the Stadium of Light.
The Italian’s agent Roberto De Fanti has confirmed Milan will sign Borini on a permanent deal on 1st July, with the player signing a three-year deal with the Rossoneri.
Borini has played in Vincenzo Montella’s 3-5-2 formation and Gennaro Gattuso’s 4-3-3 formation for Milan this season. Gattuso replaced Montella after the latter was sacked in November.
There were reports suggesting that Juventus would be interested in signing Borini due to his versatility. De Fanti stressed he will find a new club for the former Liverpool forward, if Milan decides to sanction his sale.
“The idea is to continue in Milan. If different signals should come from the club, it would not be a problem for us to find a new club,” Borini’s agent explained.
