According to a claim in the Dutch media, FC Utrecht attacking midfielder Zakaria Labyad has a verbal agreement to sign for Ajax.
The Morocco international has been linked with Leeds United in recent weeks, but it now seems certain the Championship side will miss out on the player.
Voetbal International have reported Labyad is on the verge in signing a four year deal with Ajax and his move to the Dutch giants could be confirmed as early as today.
Labyad nearly signed for Ajax in the last transfer window and after weeks of speculation it looks like he will be heading to the Amsterdam club.
Last month we covered reports from the Dutch press that Leeds United were impressed with Labyad after checking up on his FC Utrecht teammate Mateusz Klich.
Klich is currently on loan with the Dutch side and after comments made by the Polish midfielder it looks like he’ll be returning to Elland Road.
It would have been an ambitious move for Leeds United to pull off a deal for Labyad and at one point it looked like he would snub Ajax for other offers.
