With a contract running out in June after refusing to sign a new five-year deal, David Henen appears to be on his way out of Goodison Park this summer.
The 22-year-old has a number of options on the table, according to Read Everton, with clubs both in Belgium and in England, namely West Brom and Southampton, interested in signing him on a free.
This news has now reached Belgium, and DH appear to have done some extra digging.
Wanting to find a club where he could get guaranteed first-team football, the Belgian outlet explain he’d be ready to ‘take a step back’ in order to help his progression.
However, DH also explain Henen has a preference for a return to Belgium, as he’d like to be closer to his family.
The forward left his home country back in 2014 to sign for Olympiakos before ending up at Everton permanently in the summer of 2015 following a year long loan at Goodison Park from the Greek side.
Capped at U19 level with Belgium, Henen has yet to feature for Everton’s first-team, making 15 appearances for their reserves this season, scoring four goals and picking up one assist.
