Borussia Monchengladbach’s Mo Dahoud is the club’s shining star and has a real opportunity to become super important over the next season, especially after the exit of Granit Xhaka to Arsenal.
Just 20 years of age, the midfielder is an all rounder in his position, pretty much like Arsenal’s Xhaka, and can attack as well as defend – what we used to call a central midfielder in the olden days.
To cut to the chase, SportBild have reported this week that Gladbach are in something of a difficult situation. Dahoud has a release, applicable next summer, which means clubs can buy him for just €10m.
That’s a problem Gladbach have tried to solve by getting Dahoud to sign a new contract. However, he’s not in a hurry to sign a new deal, well aware that the power rests with him right now.
Should the situation continue then Gladbach face the very real prospect of losing the player for €10m next year. Therefore, despite the club not wanting to and deeming him ‘unsellable’, a sale now may well be a possibility.
SportBild say Jurgen Klopp is ready to put €30m on the table to take Dahoud to Liverpool, and Juventus are also interested.
