Newcastle United have been given hope of signing Galatasaray attacker Garry Rodrigues after he clashed with his manager in the game against Aytemiz Alanyaspor last night.

The Cape Verde international has been linked with a move to Newcastle United in recent weeks.

Haberturk have reported on the events which unfolded during Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over Alanyaspor, when Rodrigues was withdrawn in the 70th with the score at 2-2. The attacker was unhappy with Faith Terim’s decision to take him off and made hand gestures towards the bench before throwing a bottle to the floor.

Rodrigues has flourished under Terim since he became the Galatasaray boss in December, but this could put a question mark over their relationship. Recently it was reported in the Turkey press that Terim isn’t happy with Rodrigues because he thinks the player has had his head turned by recent transfer speculation.

In February we covered reports from Turkey that Newcastle United tabled a bid of €8m to sign Rodrigues in the January transfer window. This offer was instantly rejected by the Turkish side because it didn’t meet their valuation of the Cape Verde international.

Newcastle United also tried to sign the player in the last summer window when they offered €6m, and it’s expected they’ll come back in for him at the end of the season.

The Magpies should face competition to sign Rodrigues, with Everton and West Ham United also being linked with the winger in recent weeks
