We don’t know about you, but even if the Portuguese press have their moments of craziness, we’ll believe them over the Italian media when it comes to stories about players in Liga NOS, especially from Sporting CP.
We all know the problems West Ham and Bruno de Carvalho had last summer, but those appear to have been now sorted.
With that in mind, the Portuguese believe there’s a good chance the 26-year-old could still be a target for the Hammers, but Corriere dello Sport go even further than that.
According to the Italian newspaper, the defensive midfielder, who is a potential target for Inter as well, has received two offers so far: from West Ham and one from China.
They also chuck Manchester City in there, but those links seem to have disappeared a while ago, so we’ll just put them to one side.
It seems strange that an Italian newspaper would know about a West Ham offer for William before the Portuguese press, and that’s why we’re extremely skeptical about this.
Our guess is they’re referring to the one from last summer, the one that caused the disagreement with Bruno de Carvalho, leading to the Sporting CP president to call David Gold and David Sullivan “The Dildo Brothers”.
Good times.
