On Monday afternoon, we relayed information broadcasted by TV5 in Spain that Manchester City had made contact with Celta Vigo’s Nolito and an agreement between player and club had been reached.
Less than 24 hours later, Mundo Deportivo, in their paper edition, have a bit more on the story and report the conversations between the Premier League club and the Spain international took place a few days ago, with Txiki Begiristain leading the assault.
The Spanish newspaper say the idea of bringing Nolito to the Etihad came up in a meeting planning the 2016-17 season, and Pep Guardiola was the one to bring up the Celta Vigo star.
So far there haven’t been any formal negotiations between club and player, but Mundo Deportivo claim Manchester City would be prepared to offer him a four year contract laid out as three years + one optional.
Mundo, however, say that things could happen very quickly, especially if City pay the player’s €18m (£14.3m) release clause, something Celta Vigo are insisting on.
Nolito is also said to have agreed terms ‘months ago’ with another club, who happen to be AC Milan in Italy, but considering the club is currently changing ownership, no transfer are planned there for the time being.
This has allowed Pep to sweep in, and playing under the former Bayern manager is something Nolito would thoroughly enjoy doing.
