According to a claim in the Dutch media, FC Utrecht attacking midfielder Zakaria Labyad will turn down the opportunity to sign for Ajax.
Voetbalsnafu have reported Labyad will reject Ajax’s approaches in the summer as he’s keen to play elsewhere. The 25 year old was being lined up to replace Hakim Ziyech at the Johan Cruyff Arena, but is seems the Dutch giants will have to find someone else.
These latest developments could give Leeds United a chance to land Labyad in the next window, with claims their scouts have been impressed by the player when checking up on Mateusz Klich.
Klich was signed by Leeds United last summer, but was loaned to FC Utrecht in the last window after failing to make an impact with the Elland Road club. This also opens up the possibility of using the Pole in a deal to bring the Morocco international to England.
Labyad has scored 13 goals in 37 games for FC Utrecht, not a bad return for a midfielder.
