Claim from Greece and Belgium over the weekend, seemingly crediting each other, report Olympiacos will not use Kevin Mirallas’ redemption clause and the Everton owned player will leave at the end of the season.
The Belgian winger reportedly wants to stay in Greece but his issues with the club’s board and fans are certainly making this a bit harder, especially considering his hefty salary.
Mirallas joined the Greek giants from Everton during the winter transfer window, but he failed to make an impact at Olympiacos where he thrived and announced himself to the world football stage 6 years ago.
Earlier, Greek club’s president Vangelos Marinakis had banned several players including Mirallas because of their poor performance, and is likely not to pursue his signature during the summer transfer window.
The 30 year old’s redemption clause is thought to be around €6m, but the Greek club will not activate it. Sport 24.Gr say Mirallas wants to get another chance to shine, but this could be too late for him.
Mirallas has played 13 games for Olympiacos this season and only managed to score 1 goal.
If Everton don’t see a future for the player then he’ll have to start looking for a new club again.
