With stories from Spain suggesting Marcos Alonso could return to his home country at some point in the near future, Chelsea are still keeping an eye on left-backs.
This is what RMC Sport reported last week, a story we missed but that remains relevant, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Layvin Kurzawa the reported target.
In fact, the French outlet go as far as saying the Blues made an attempt to sign the defender on January 31st, a day after their confirmed the arrival of Emerson Palmieri from Roma.
The Ligue 1 leaders, who didn’t have time to get a replacement, turned down their approach, but it suggests, if true, that Chelsea could be looking at cashing in on Marcos Alonso if a big club in Spain come knocking in the future.
There have been suggestions in France, boosted by Unai Emery’s decision to leave out Kurzawa from the Champions League clash against Real Madrid, the 25-year-old could be looking for a way out from Paris in the summer, annoyed at the criticism sent his way by the media, a lot of which he deems unfair.
We’ll have to wait and see what comes of this, but with just over two years left on his current deal, the French side might not be in a position to ask for vast amounts of money for their left-back, especially if he wants to leave.
Not a bad option for Chelsea.
