Everton are one of a number of clubs interested in Kerem Demirbay, reports this week’s edition of SportBild.
The German magazine has a transfer special looking towards the summer, and Demirbay is the first man on the list. Along with Everton, Arsenal, Liverpool, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Schalke and Borussia Dortmund are all said to be keen.
Demirbay is a 24 year old attacking midfielder, currently playing for Hoffenheim. He went to last year’s Confederations Cup with Germany and separately played a friendly for the country against Denmark.
With a Hoffenheim contract lasting until June 2021, the player has a €32m release clause, which SportBild reckon only Dortmund and Milan would consider matching at this stage.
The Everton target suffered a bad injury this weekend, tearing ankle ligaments whilst playing for Hoffenheim against Hertha Berlin, and is expected to be out for at least a month.
There’s obviously widespread interest in the player, judging from SportBild’s claims, and whilst Everton are keen, it’s BVB and Milan presented as the likelier destinations at this stage.
