Bought from Austria Vienna for just over £3m after a 24 goal season and then loaned straight to affiliate club Girona FC, Manchester City’s Olarenwaju Kayode isn’t having the best of time in Spain.
Yet to score a goal, the Nigeria international could see his loan terminated, and spend the second half of the season in France, if RMC Sport are to be believed.
In their live blog, the French outlet state Amiens in Ligue 1 could ‘very quickly’ welcome the 24-year-old on loan from Manchester City striker, with both clubs currently in talks about a deal.
Signing a new striker had been something of a priority for Amiens in January, and if they can get someone who is known to find the back of the net regularly, like Kayode (at least last season), then that could help them establish themselves as a Ligue 1 side for next season.
This all comes off the back of what Mundo Deportivo called a ‘curious situation’ where the striker ended up getting 14 extra days of holiday, without any real reason behind it, explaining it ‘remained to be seen how their manager would handle it’.
Not very well, clearly.
