Lucas Moura has been repeatedly linked to Manchester United over the past few weeks, not for the first time in his career.
When Lucas appeared for Brazil at Old Trafford in the 2012 Olympics, the rumours of a move to Manchester United were so big that some of the crowd thought they were getting a glimpse of their next signing, hence the great reception the Brazilian got.
In the end Lucas went to PSG and hasn’t managed to fulfill his potential, now a transfer looks a matter of time and speaking after PSG’s match against Nantes on Sunday evening, he wasn’t scared to talk up the possibility of a move to the Premier League.
French newspaper L’Equipe quote the PSG player as saying about his situation: “It feels the end of a story for me unfortunately. Can I stay? It will be very difficult. Manchester United? There are topics I cannot talk about. English football I like a lot, it is the most disputed championship.”
With Manchester United thought to be closing in on Alexis Sanchez, it may be doubtful Jose Mourinho would sign both players in one month. Perhaps Lucas is the back-up option at Old Trafford.
Sunday’s edition of L’Equipe reported PSG are looking for around €20m from a deal, half what Le Parisien claimed the club want last week.
In September 2016, Lucas’ agent Wagner Riberio spoke about Mourinho wanting the player at both Real Madrid and Manchester United: “Who called Lucas Moura there (Madrid), who wanted Lucas Moura wasn’t Florentino. It was Mourinho.
“Mourinho was, is, passionate for Lucas Moura. So much so that now at Manchester he wants Lucas as well.”
In May 2016, more than two sources informed Sport Witness Manchester United had made contact with PSG over a possible future transfer, with any move, around that time, dependent on Mourinho getting other targets.
