Leander Dendoncker is a popular rumour figure. Whenever Sport Witness cover links from Belgium linking him with a move, usually to Manchester United, there’s always a positive response from fans.

The Anderlecht midfielder is widely considered to be one of his country’s best young talents, and that leads to excitement over a potential transfer.

Monday saw West Ham links across the Belgian sport media, with it being reported the Hammers have asked Anderlecht about the signing. As has seemed the case since the summer, the stance is that Anderlecht don’t want to sell, but there’s a possibility they could if the price is right.

Monday’s reports explained it would take a West Ham offer of over €20m to make Anderlecht flinch.

On Tuesday, Belgium’s DH says West Ham are ‘insistent’ on the potential transfer, with the player being a ‘dream’ for David Moyes. It’s clearly the West Ham manager driving the interest, and he may get help from Dendoncker’s agent soon.

Dendoncker’s representative has been ‘very busy’ sorting out Kevin Mirallas’ transfer, but can now get to work with Anderlecht. West Ham are said to want to hear a price from Anderlecht, which the agent would presumably find out, rather than going in there first.

If Leander Dendoncker goes to West Ham for €20m, there will be a lot of fans of other clubs wondering why their club didn’t do the deal.
