There’s a couple of Vicente Guaita updates in the Spanish media on Tuesday, neither of them very positive for Crystal Palace.
First up is Marca, who seem to now be siding with, or at least believing, English claims that Watford are closer to signing the Getafe player.
It’s explained Crystal Palace don’t see him as an absolute priority, which is letting Watford into the picture.
Marca say the Watford offer ‘seduces’ Guaita less, but their offer to Getafe is around the same as Crystal Palace’s.
If the goalkeeper is leaving then his final days at Getafe will be ‘very complicated’.
There’s an insinuation that Guaita missed last weekend’s match with an injury which may not be completely honest.
More a pull of the transfer muscle than a genuine physical issue.
Guaita’s attitude around the club has been ‘very bad’ after the recent English approaches, and AS say it’s annoyed Getafe so much they won’t hold any more talks and now insist clubs pay his full €8m clause.
Crystal Palace and Watford are reported to have offered ‘little more than half’ of that amount.
Despite the Getafe strop, which sounds a reasonable reaction if Guaita is refusing to play or train, a transfer is still presented as possible and a replacement is being sought.
