It seems that West Ham have finally, yes, FINALLY, got a striker in the bag.

According to Fernando Carlos, a journalist for ESPN Futbol Club in South America, Jonathan Calleri has confirmed he will be playing for the Hammers.

The former Sao Paulo striker made it clear that everything was done for the deal to go through, and it seems it’s just a matter of time before the club make it official as well.

This news will be a relief for West Ham fans, who have seen their club struggle to get the big name signing they were hoping for to lead their front line (there’s still time, though) for next season.

However, the prospect of Jonathan Calleri, who played alongside former Hammers icon Carlos Tevez at Boca before being transferred to Deportivo Maldonado in Uruguay and loaned out to Sao Paulo, should bring some excitement ahead of the new season.

The 22-year-old scored 12 goals in 17 appearances for Sao Paulo during his loan spell, as well as picking up 21 goals and 11 assists in 53 games during his time at Boca Juniors.

There was no indication whether this was a permanent transfer or not, but previous reports suggested a loan deal was the likeliest of outcomes between the two clubs.
