Bought by Roberto Martinez to either provide backup for Romelu Lukaku or play down the wings, Oumar Niasse didn’t exactly show much promise when he came off the bench for Everton last year.
Only making two starts in seven appearances overall during the second half of the season, the Senegalese international also seems surplus to requirements for Ronald Koeman, with talk of a loan to Galatasaray being reported in England.
However, Vatan in Turkey seem to think the deal is now off after both clubs failed to agree on a loan with a view to buy deal, mostly because of the fee to make the deal permanent.
It seems Galatasaray were prepared to pay the striker’s wages as well as pay Everton for the loan, but ‘the talks for the purchase price (…) ended negotiations for the transfer’.
They say that the Niasse book is now closed, suggesting they won’t be coming back with a new offer, probably moving onto other targets instead.
