Fenerbahce midfielder Josef de Souza has told the Turkish media he doesn’t have an agreement to sign for West Bromwich Albion.
It was recently claimed in Turkey the Brazilian midfielder travelled to England to hold talks with the Premier League side, and that a deal was close.
Sporx have reported on comments Souza made after Fenerbahce’s game with Antalyaspor yesterday when asked about a move to West Brom: “Certainly the news is lies and fabrications. I want to stay at Fenerbahce. I’m happy at the club, and I want to play my football here.
“Yes there was there a possibility of a transfer (to West Brom) at the beginning of the season, but I decided to stay. I want to extend my contract with Fenerbahce, and become champions.”
At the weekend we covered reports from the Turkish press that Souza had given Fenerbahce an ultimatum, demanding they accept West Brom’s offer or extend his contract.
West Brom were close to signing the midfielder in the last window, but the deal fell through, and now the Baggies are reportedly willing to offer Fenerbahce €15m to sign the player.
Souza is contracted to Fernerbahce until June 2019.
