According to report in the Italian media, Bologna will not sell defender Filip Helander to Aston Villa in the January window.
The Swede has in recent days has been linked with a move to Villa Park after an official from the Championship side got a lowdown on the central defender on Monday night.
Tutto Bologna have reported on Aston Villa tracking Helander ahead of the January transfer window, after claims they are showing concrete interest in the Sweden international.
However, the Italian football outlet say Bologna haven’t the ‘slightest intention of surrendering’ Helander in the new year. The Serie A club aren’t prepared to lose one of their key players in mid-season, and if they were to sell the former Malmo defender it would be in the summer.
These reports may come as a blow to Aston Villa after they sent a scout to Bologna’s away victory over Hellas Verona earlier this week, with it being reported the reason was specifically Helander.
The 24 year old would have impressed the Aston Villa official, being one of Bologna’s standout players during his side’s 3-2 win.
There’s every chance Aston Villa’s interest has been overstated and, giving Bologna a chance to fluff their feathers and play hard over their defender.
