Everton’s interest in the Sporting striker Bas Dost is still being taken very seriously in Portugal.
A Bola has a big report about the player, saying he’s ‘obsessed’ with winning a title for the Lisbon club, and didn’t even want to listen to the approaches that were recently made for him.
When speaking of the places Dost could feel attracted to, China and England get a mention. And despite recalling two other Premier League clubs linked in the past, it’s from Everton who they claim there’s an ‘old love’ from.
Dost had been linked to Everton in the summer window, but things got bigger in October, when the English media reported the interest again.
However, an interesting point is that it was claimed Ronald Koeman was the one behind his compatriot’s potential arrival at Goodison Park, so it’s hard to know if the club’s board are still keen after the manager’s sacking.
In any case, Dost seems determined to fight for the title with Sporting this season, and would only leave in the next summer.
Now with a €60m release clause, whoever that will be in charge of the Everton at the time will have to be pretty convinced that the striker is the real deal.
