We’ve really lost count of how many interviews with Richarlison we’ve read since the striker joined Watford. But the player’s humility and openness still makes his chats enjoyable to read or watch.
Richarlison spoke to ESPN Brasil this time, and to start the chat, reporter João Castelo Branco mentioned the many interviews he’s been giving, especially to the English press.
The player claimed most of the questions are about his friendships in London, and once again, made sure to praise Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes for the help he’s been giving him.
“He sorted me a house, a car. Takes me to London to buy clothes, to get out a little. These days he took me to Ibiza, Spain, to get some beach time, to get out of the house a little too. He’s a guy who helps me a lot,” Richarlison told ESPN Brasil.
“So it was a suffering childhood yes, I went through great difficulties, but it also helps in the growth. We learn to value things when we end up conquering them.”
Despite his great form with Watford, Richarlison still wasn’t called up for the national team. He wouldn’t even have to travel much as Brazil are facing Japan in Paris and England at Wembley during this international break, but manager Tite left him out.
Asked if he was expecting the call up, he said: “I thought so. I was watching it on the phone. I was expecting it. But I believe God has a purpose for me. Unfortunately it is not my time yet.
“Tite thinks I’m not ready, and if he thinks so, he’s right. So I will continue to prepare well for when the opportunity shows up, to be at a high level and to make great games with the Brazilian national team. And I intend to make history here at Watford. And score a lot of goals here.”
