Swansea have reportedly won the race for the Spanish striker Fernando Llorente, according to claims from Portugal.

As Sporting were said to be in the competition, Record has an article in their Thursday edition saying the Portuguese side couldn’t convince the player to accept their offer.

The Lions have talked to the striker’s brother, Chus Llorente, but he didn’t accept the wages. On the other hand, Swansea are said to have reached an agreement with him.

Record says Swansea offered the player a three-year contract and the club are now ready to seal the deal.

Llorente reportedly earns €3m per season at Sevilla, which is considered to be impossible for Sporting to pay, and that’s Swansea’s advantage.

The 31-year-old finished his only season at Sevilla with seven goals and five assists. He signed for the Spanish side from Juventus for free last summer.
