Former Germany captain Lothar Matthaus believes Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane is the best No.9 in the Premier League.
Kane has been in stunning form this season for Tottenham, and is currently the Premier League top scorer.
Writing in his column for Four Four Two, Mattahaus said Kane is the best forward currently playing in the English top flight: “For me the best No.9 in the Premier League now is Harry Kane. He’s a great player, a typical British forward. I like him very much. Kane guarantees you goals and he’s scored so many. He works for the team, he is strong and his body language is good.”
Kane has impressed for club and country this season, and his eight Premier League goals in this campaign put him one ahead of Manchester City star Sergio Aguero in the scoring charts.
The England international scored two goals against Liverpool last weekend, and he was badly missed in Tottenham’s defeat to Manchester United today.
However, the forward’s form has started the rumour mill, with weak claims Real Madrid could be interested in signing him. Despite these rumours it’s unlikely Tottenham will want to sell their prized asset, given the club’s ambitions.
