According to a claim in the Serbian media, Everton are still interested in Red Star Belgrade forward Richmond Boakye.
Boakye’s performances for the Serbian giants have brought him to the attention of other clubs, including the Premier League side.
Hot Sport have reported Everton sent a scout this week to Belgrade to get a lowdown on the Ghana international, as the Merseyside club look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the next window.
It’s reported Everton sent an official to Red Star Belgrade’s Europa League clash with FC Koln earlier in the season, with claims they are interested in signing the player.
The player’s agent is quoted as saying: “There’s already (interest) announced from Everton and Monchengladbach, who after his match in Cologne began the mission with the goal of buying a player.”
Other clubs will also be in attendance to watch Red Star Belgrade take on Arsenal on Thursday night, including Anderlecht, CSKA Moscow, Fenerbahce, and Chelsea, with suggestions they too could be interested in the 24 year old.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman could look to bring in a forward in the new year, following their problems in attack this season. The Toffees are struggling to fill the void left by Romelu Lukaku when he signed for Manchester United in the summer, and Boakye is an option for the Dutchman.
However, Everton fans would be expecting bigger name targets than Boakye.
