Leeds United have joined the race to sign Carpi attacker Raphael Martinho, according to claims in Italy. The Brazilian looks set to leave the Serie A side, and along with Leeds United has been linked with clubs in Italy.
TMW have revealed Leeds United are giving special attention to Martinho as Garry Monk looks to bolster his attacking options in this transfer window. The 28-year-old hardly figured for Carpi last season, and looks surplus to requirements at the club.
The attacker is soon hoping to get out his contract with Carpi, and Leeds United could then look to move in on the player. However, the Championship side will face competition from Pro Vercelli and Spezia to land the South American.
Martinho moved to Italy in 2010, where he played alongside Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci for two seasons with Sicilian side Catania. The attacker went on to play for Cesena and Hellas Verona before returning to Catania in 2014.
The player joined Carpi in 2015 following their promotion to Serie A, but made just one league appearance.
