The Brazilian media is pretty excited with the good start that Danilo has been having at Manchester City after joining the club this summer.

Despite leaving Santos with a good potential and having a great spell at Porto, the player never really managed to be an indisputable piece at Real Madrid, and that’s why some doubts were raised regarding his abilities.

But he’s been pretty useful for Pep Guardiola, who has been lining him up in different positions, with six starts this season already.

This was a subject of an interview made by Goal, who talked to Danilo about the Real Madrid departure and his quick adaptation to the Premier League side.

On the many roles he’s been playing under Pep Guardiola, the player said: “During my entire career I have always played a lot in varied positions. As I say, I always like to play. I don’t think if I’m going to play on the right side, the left, the middle, the defense… I’m always motivated to play”.

“In a team that has a well-defined tactical system where everyone knows what they need to do, it’s easier to play. So I could already show in the first games that I can play on the right, the left, the defense and the midfield. I’ve already shown that I can be that player. And of course, the most important thing is to be in the starting lineup”.

Quizzed if Gabriel Jesus could follow the Brazilian Ronaldo’s footsteps, Danilo said: “[Laughs] It’s bad to make comparisons, especially with Ronaldo… I don’t feel comfortable talking about it”.

“Gabriel has been a pleasant surprise to me. He is a boy with a lot of ability to decide games, to create plays, it’s an impressive thing. I didn’t known him so closely to say so, I had seen him play a few times. He also has very big tactical maturity. Even with little time in England, he’s a boy who has learned a lot, who gives a lot of quality to the team. I hope he can reach the level of Ronaldo, because it will be good for our club, for Brazil. It will help a lot”.

Finally, since Danilo has already played with Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, he was asked if it’s time for Messi to join him at Manchester City: “[Laughs] No, no… I don’t think about that. I’m very pleased with my team-mates, Gabriel, Kevin, David, all exceptional players.

“We also have a generation of great youngsters, such as Sané, Sterling, who are also exceptional. Our group is very cool. Any reinforcement will be welcome, of course, but we are satisfied”.
