Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos is looking forward to be taking part in his first Old Firm this Saturday, and hopes to score against Celtic.
Signed from Finnish side HJK Helsinki in a £1m deal this summer, Morelos had a quick adaptation to the Ibrox side under Pedro Caixinha, and has an impressive record of eight goals in ten appearances.
The player has spoken to Colombian outlet Futbolred, and talked about how special this first match against Brendan Rodgers’ men should be for him: “I’m very happy, we are already living the atmosphere of this great classic, we hope to do things the best way, to be well prepared and with a positive mentality.”
“The atmosphere is motivating, our fanbase and is already up for the duel, the stadium will not fit all people. Our fans always fill it and especially in an important game like this. We live the atmosphere in the street, we hope that in the matchday we get a nice win.”
The game will be played at six in the morning Colombian time, and as the local people are still getting to now Morales’ new club Rangers, the outlet asked him about the same old subject regarding the politics and religious rivalry. Nearly every time the matches between Celtic and Rangers are mentioned around the world, this comes up.
“Everyone has their religion, our fans are protestant, but that does not really affect the pitch. What characterises us is to get a victory, to play football well. They ask us to beat Celtic.”
Rangers are currently in third place in the Scottish Premiership, and a win at Ibrox would reduce the gap with leaders Celtic to only two points.
