Earlier this week, we had the unpleasing job of desmistifying a story from Portugal which said Wolverhampton Wanderers were planning to sign Diogo Jota on a permanent deal soon.

But although there weren’t basis for that rumour, the player’s move could start making more sense after another transfer that happened this week.

As reported by Marca today, with Diego Costa’s arrival at Atletico Madrid, it’s very likely that many other strikers will end up without any room in the squad for the next season.

And as Jota’s loan deal at the Wolves expires in the next summer, that could obviously favour the Championship side in case of an offer to keep him after his spell.

With five goals in eight Championship games, Jota is giving the Wolves good reasons to try a deal for him, especially in case of a promotion, where there would be more money to spend.

The Wolves just better hope that all this good form won’t convince Atletico to want Jota to play alongside Costa next seaon.
