When it became apparentĀ there’d been a problem with Adrien Silva’s registration at Leicester City, Sporting quickly wanted to make their stance very clear on the matter.
Aside from insinuating and leakingĀ that any problems with the deal going through late were due to Leicester City, and a matter between the Foxes and FIFA, Sporting wanted it known the deal was done.
Therefore, it didn’t really matter what FIFA said, Adrien Silva was a Leicester player and wouldn’t be turning out for Sporting. The details of the deal were made public, everything was announced officially, and the only other comments from Sporting wereĀ that it was a shame Adrien couldn’t play… but essentially not their problem.
Claims from The Mirror that Leicester City are set to get a positive ruling from FIFA have made their way to Portugal, and it’s covered, but there’s no inside line. That’s yet another example of how much it’s considered Adrien is now a Leicester issue.
Last weekend it was reported that ‘Leicester City’s Adrien Silva’ had returned to Portugal for treatment on an injury, and this weekend the player’s wife spoke about being prepared to follow her husband to England.
