It’s pretty obvious that the William Carvalho saga is set to drag on for at least one more year, as the player is still said to want to leave Sporting.
What we didn’t expect is that moves from the summer market would only be leaked now, which is the case of a report from Record today.
They have a big story saying that Sporting are interested in bringing Wendell on loan from PSG, and for it to happen, they must let a midfielder go first.
With Carvalho being the closest man to the exit door, the possibilities of his departure get a mention. They recall that both West Ham and Monaco wanted to sign him, even though president Bruno de Carvalho claimed there were no official offers.
They don’t make it clear what the problem was for Swansea, but recall that it was only on a loan deal that the Premier League side got a midfielder, which was Renato Sanches from Bayern Munich.
Swansea City’s huge income from selling Gylfi Sigurðsson isn’t detailed either.
Swansea were never strongly linked to Carvalho, so it’s quite curious to see this interest coming out now. Perhaps the Sanches loan sees the Welsh club more dragged into Portuguese rumours now.
