Ahead of Celtic’s clash with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, there was a lot of coverage in France regarding the atmosphere the fans manage to create at Celtic Park.

Plenty of former players were interviewed about various things, such as the rivalry between the Scottish Premiership champions and Rangers or the noise the crowd can generate to help their team overcome a tough game.

Unfortunately for Brendan Rodgers, there was very little he could do to stop the Ligue 1 club’s trio of Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappé, even if one of the Celtic fans did his best to stop the French starlet by taking matter into his own hands, failing miserably in the process.

Still, that doesn’t mean the Celtic Park faithful were any quieter than usual, and a very impressed Thomas Meunier told Le Parisien about his experience in Scotland.

He said: “The atmosphere in the stadium is exceptional. We missed You’ll Never Walk Alone because we were still in the dressing room, but that place reeks of football. Some guy goes to warm up and the whole stadium applauds him. It’s magnificent.”

Needing to put the 5-0 rout behind them, Brendan Rodgers and his men will now be focusing on this weekend’s upcoming game, with hope that a home league tie against ninth placed Ross County will see normal service be resumed for the reigning champions.
