Borussia Dortmund star Shinji Kagawa has backed potential Leeds United signing Yosuke Ideguchi, saying he’s one of several ‘wonderful’ players coming through for the national side.

Getting praise from Kagawa will be a pretty big deal for Ideguchi, the former Manchester United player is a superstar in Japan, with 1.4m followers on Twitter, over 1m on Instagram, and around 3m likes on Facebook.

Kagawa may not be quite as important for Dortmund as he once was, but his star is still shining in Japan, and Ideguchi is now feeling a little warmth from its reflection.

In his blog, the 28 year mentioned the Leeds United target when talking about young talents coming through for the national team: “Yuya (Kubo, plays for Gent), Yosuke (at Gamba Osaka, maybe soon to be at leeds), Takuma (Asano, plays for Stuttgart), are wonderful momentous players. There are many other good young players.”

Out of that trio, Yosuke Ideguchi is the only one still playing in Japan, although Gamba Osaka have confirmed they’re expecting a Leeds United offer ahead of the January window.

It will be harder to get a work permit for the UK, and that’s why it’s been repeatedly reported in Japan that Leeds United could signing the player and then loan him out elsewhere.
