FIFA have just rejected Adrien Silva’s transfer to Leicester City, according to claims from the Portuguese press.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola claims that football’s maximum authority has not accepted the player’s registration, and he now has to wait until January so he can officially join the club.

In the past few days, most of the Portuguese newspapers have been saying that the deal between Sporting and Leicester has no clause saying the move could be called off.

So, according to the Portuguese slant, the transfer is done, and several things have backed that stance up before today’s claim. Adrien himself has already taken his stuff from Sporting’s training ground, said farewell to teammates, and isn’t included in the club’s squad for the Champions League group stage.

Now this information should be officially confirmed soon, as both Leicester City and Sporting obviously have to make statements regarding the case.

It’s been claimed that Leicester City asked for two more hours to complete the transfer after the deadline, but it was still registered in FIFA’s system a few seconds later.

Portuguese newspapers O Jogo, Record, and A Bola all agree that Adrien Silva won’t be returning to Sporting, as his Leicester City transfer is complete… he just can’t play.

Quite what Leicester City will make of that may be another thing entirely.
