Nikola Vlasic should travel to Liverpool today for a medical to join Everton, according to various reports in Croatia.

Index state Everton and Hajduk Split agreed on a final transfer fee on Tuesday evening, and now both clubs are happy with the outcome.

Hajduk had been torn between keeping Vlasic, who many consider essential to their title challenge, and cashing-in so Everton’s money can help balance the books.

It was always likelier for the money option to win out.

Index say Hajduk are selling Vlasic for around €10m, but the Croatian club won’t be getting all of the fee. Everton’s €10m is set to be split 70/30 with Hajduk getting the bigger share, and Vlasic’s family walking away with 30%.

Such a scenario isn’t too out of the ordinary in Croatian football, and is something which has been spreading through the football world over the past few years.

Net.hr say Vlasic will be earning €1m after tax at Everton.

Croatian newspaper 24Sata slightly disagree with some of the claims, saying the fee is €8.7m, and if Everton don’t be careful they could be gazumped by other interested clubs.

24Sata also have a feature on the Vlasic family’s sporting turnaround, with a younger Nikola pictured supporting his high jump champion sister Blanka. There’s also an image of a drawing Nikola had on his wall as a youngster, celebrating his sister’s achievements.

It’s pointed out that by moving to Everton, and getting the 30% cut, Nikola Vlasic will earn more than his sister has in her entire high-jump career.
