The closer we get to the end of the transfer window, the more we are going to get stories about Andrea Ranocchia talking to Premier League clubs as he desperately looks for a return to England after his solid spell for Hull City.
Currently still at Inter, where he’s been all summer, patiently waiting for his move, the 29-year-old now has three days to find himself a club, as the Serie A side push to get a deal for Shkodran Mustafi over the line.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday, the player’s representatives are set to hold meetings with Brighton & Hove Albion, Watford and Burnley today in a bid to convince one of them to make a suitable offer for their client.
A few days ago, it was reported the player already had his suitcase ‘ready’ in case someone came along, but it seems he’s the one going to them.
As we’ve explained many times before, the Watford link will solely be hope that Marco Silva, who gave him his Premier League chance at Hull, wants to team up with him once again.
Regarding Burnley and Brighton, the Clarets certainly do need a new centre-back considering they only have three (four if you include Tom Anderson) in their squad right, while the Seagulls are also in a very similar position, with Connor Goldson providing depth for Shane Duffy, Lewis Dunk and Uwe Hünemeier.
Another experienced defender wouldn’t go amiss in either of those clubs, and it could very well be we end up with one of them rescuing Ranocchia in the coming days.
We’ll have to wait and see how this meeting goes first.
