‘Negotiations continue’ on Pape Cheikh to Tottenham, report La Voz de Galicia.
Part of the local Spanish report leans on English claims, and none of it sounds as certain as Marca were earlier on Tuesday.
The Spanish newspaper said Pape Cheikh is ‘very close to signing’ for Tottenham, with the midfielder’s club Celta Vigo minded to accept a €10m Spurs offer for the player.
It’s since been reported elsewhere that Marca said Celta Vigo have accepted the offer, they did not.
There’s every chance the whole Pape Cheikh to Tottenham rumour is simply speculation balanced on speculation, with various media outlets taking it a step further to try and look ahead.
It started off when Celta Vigo travelled to England for preseason friendlies and some media felt duty bound to pick out targets for English clubs, Pape Cheikh was the one for Tottenham.
Since then everything has been creeping forward, and it seems Celta Vigo sources are happy to help push the story along.
Pape Cheikh is in training with Celta Vigo, and La Voz de Galicia say he hasn’t played in recent matches because of a slight injury worry, disagreeing with hints elsewhere that it’s transfer related.
