Having very recently played Napoli in a friendly, with the score finishing 2-2, Bournemouth appear to have taken a shine to one of their opponent’s players.
The man in question was their midfielder Jorginho, a Brazilian born Italy international, who joined Aurelio de Laurentiis’ club back in 2014 from Hellas Verona for around €8m.
Having spent close to £30m this transfer window, Il Mattino in Italy are reporting Eddie Howe isn’t done with the transfer window yet, wanting to bolster his midfield with the 25-year-old.
The Italian newspaper claim the Cherries offered around €20m for Jorginho, a bid that, despite a good friendship between both clubs’ directors of football, was swiftly rejected by the Serie A side.
And, judging by how Il Mattino have worded it, it seems a renewed offer wouldn’t do the trick either, with Napoli wanting to ensure the midfielder remains at Maurizio Sarri’s disposal this season.
After all, having improved their goalkeeping situation with Asmir Begovic, their defence with Nathan Aké and their strike force with Jermain Defoe, midfield is the next logical place for an arrival.
Especially after seeing Jack Wilshere return to Arsenal from last season’s loan.
