Moussa Dembele to Marseille has always been something pushed more by the British media, and that goes for the player leaving Celtic generally.
Dembele leaving Celtic Park for Marseille has of course been covered in France, but not as often and strongly as in the British media, and who can forget the Dembele to Chelsea of the winter transfer window?
Whilst all these claims have been flying around, it seems not a lot has actually happened. Brendan Rodgers could talk at length about why Dembele would be best served by staying at Celtic and, as seemed unlikely in January, the player may still be in the Scottish Premiership when the window closes.
L’Equipe have a look at Marseille’s striker chase in their Sunday edition, and Dembele is mentioned. Whilst that in itself is worrying for Celtic, that Dembele is one of seven players named lessens that worry somewhat.
The Celtic star isn’t Marseille’s priority right now and with no other clubs hovering with imminent offers, that’s good news for Rodgers.
Things could change over the next three weeks, with Premier League money being thrown around in a panic, but right now Dembele staying at Celtic is a reasonable bet.
