The indifference in the Spanish media towards Diogo Jota to Wolves has been frankly odd. Signed by Atletico Madrid last summer, Jota was already highly rated and a good year out on loan at FC Porto should have underlined that.
With Wolves looking to close in on the signing, Marca, for the first time, have something in their daily newspaper about it. It’s stated that Jota’s departure is a ‘matter of days’ away, and whilst a transfer is taken as pretty much certain, Wolves aren’t even mentioned.
Nobody else is, and there’s no suggestion Wolves could miss out, just a complete lack of caring as to what happens with Jota.
It could be that the journalists who concentrate on Atletico haven’t had a chance to get to know the 20 year old and his talents, with him arriving and then leaving, on loan, quickly last year.
With Atletico on tour, and Jota not invited, the most prominent Atleti journalists will be concentrating on other things, leaving the Wolves transfer to largely go ignored.
There’s been talk of a permanent deal in Spain, without that quick exit being seen as a shame. Should Jota complete his Wolves move, loan or permanent, then it’s up to him tp prove his talents deserve a little more attention.
