According to claims in the French media, Aston Villa defender Aly Cissokho is on the verge of joining Yeni Malatyaspor. The Frenchman has already been linked this summer with another Turkish side, as newly promoted Goztepe also held an interest.
RMC Sport have reported Cissokho has travelled to Turkey, and as long he passes a medical, he’ll sign for Malatyaspor. It’s expected the Aston Villa player will complete his transfer soon after three seasons at the Championship club. There have been no reports on the transfer fee or length of contract Cissokho has been offered.
Cissokho spent most of his time with Aston Villa out on loan with Porto and Olympiacos, despite being with the English club for three seasons. After his loan spell at Olympiacos last season, Cissokho returned to Aston Villa this summer, but it always seemed he was surplus to requirements at Villa Park under Steve Bruce.
The 29-year-old has just 12 months left on his contact with Aston Villa.
