Free to do whatever he wants this summer after agreeing to terminate his contract with Juventus after just one season, a Serie A title, a Coppa Italia and a Champions League final, Dani Alves has a decision to make.
The general consensus, when the news broke, was that the Brazilian fullback would reunite with his former manager Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, who are in dire need of fullbacks after letting three go on a free this summer.
It’s definitely not a guarantee, as the French newspaper make it clear that both Manchester City and the Coupe de France champions are ‘hoping’ for the player to make up his mind in the ‘coming hours’, adding a bit later ‘there is a feeling’ it could happen today.
While a reunion with Guardiola would be nice, Le Parisien, who will always swing in favour of their local team, add that, recently married, the Brazil international could be persuaded to go to Paris by his wife, Spanish model Joana Sanz, who is often in the French capital and has a contract with a Parisian agency.
Living there would certainly make life a lot easier for her, and with a solid Brazilian contingent at Paris Saint-Germain, it’s not like Dani Alves would get homesick anytime soon.
There are arguments for both cases, and a decision will surely be made soon, with hope it will be today, but there are certainly no expectations such a timeline will be abided by.
