Linked with a move to West Ham, it appears Martin Braithwaite could instead be leaving Ligue 1 to sign for Middlesbrough in the Championship.

The Denmark international, who scored 11 goals and picked up three assists for Toulouse last year, and his entourage are currently in talks about a potential move to Riverside, according to L’Equipe on Thursday.

While the prospect of moving to England’s second-tier might not be top of his list, the French newspaper explain Boro are looking to try and persuade him with a nice wage package (around £34k/week) and an ambition of getting back into the Premier League as soon as possible, hopefully next year.

Currently under contract with the Ligue 1 side until 2019, Toulouse aren’t exactly the richest club around, meaning a bid of around €10m would more than enough to convince them.

Having sold Jordan Rhodes to Sheffield Wednesday for around £10m and Alvaro Negredo’s return to Valencia, bolstering the strike force is a must, and with the parachute payments the club will have received from their relegation, shelling out for Braithwaite shouldn’t be too much of an issue for Garry Monk’s new side.
