Fenerbahçe boss Aykut Kocaman revealed in his press conference yesterday that the Turkish club have made an offer to Sunderland’s Jeremain Lens, and they are currently waiting on the Dutchman’s decision.
Despite these comments the Sunderland attacker recently confirmed he’s waiting for a concrete offer from Fenerbahçe, and a return to Turkey for next season.
Lens told Fox Sports: “If Fenerbahce’s offer had been concrete, I would already be there. I do not know the reasons why no offer was made. There is only talk, I have nothing on paper.”
Lens spent last season on loan with Fenerbahce, and impressed during a difficult season for the club. Regardless of whether Sunderland stayed in the Premier League or not, there would have been uncertainty over Lens’ future, so their relegation to the Championship makes the situation even more difficult.
Fenerbahce’s local rivals Beşiktaş and Galatasaray have also been linked with the Sunderland player in recent months. Lens will be eager to get his next club sorted out quickly so he can build on the success of last season and hopefully look towards the World Cup.
