We aren’t easily surprised at Sport Witness, but in Andrea Ranocchia’s case, we really are.
The Inter centre-back, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Hull City, impressed greatly during his six month stay in the Premier League, and the fact he is still at the Serie A club baffles us a bit.
According to Corriere dello Sport on Tuesday, after West Brom and Huddersfield, West Ham, who are seemingly always looking for a new defender, are now keen on the 29-year-old.
Now, while we completely agree that Andrea Ranocchia could do a job with West Ham, the fact they’ve just been added to the list of teams interested, and West Brom haven’t been mentioned this time when they have been regularly in the past raises a few questions.
Could it just be that, in a dash to get some column inches filled, ‘Brom’ unintentionally became ‘Ham’ or has Slaven Bilic decided that bringing in someone who has already impressed in the Premier League is a better idea than some of the other centre-backs he’s been looking at?
The first option is easily done, and considering all the previous reports have been about either West Brom or Huddersfield, that’s what we’re leaning towards.
We’ll find out soon enough, but before you get excited (or not), we’d recommend waiting a few days.
